Thanksgiving, Somewhere New

A table with a striped cloth, set with dishes and food among fallen autumn leaves in the woods, with a folding chair beside it.

Thanksgiving is next weekend, and some of us won’t be home.

That’s okay. A table can be anywhere. The oven is tiny and the cousins are far away, but the gravy is still gravy.

An RV table is small, so the menu gets honest:

  • a turkey breast, not the whole bird
  • one pie, shared
  • whoever is parked beside you

Set it with the good plates. Light a candle against the early dark.

Gratitude doesn’t need a dining room. It needs a window and good company.

Outside, the leaves are letting go. Inside, it’s warm and bright. Pass the potatoes, twice.
